Our History

In 1930 the Homerville Church of God was established in the Church of God International (Cleveland, Tn.). Throughout the years this church has been a place of Hope and Grace, Shinning the Light of Christ. With a current membership of nearly 500, and a combined average of over 350 total attendees during our Sunday Morning & Evening Worship Services, and over 200 during our mid-week Service & Ministry Night, God is continuing to grow our Church spiritually & numerically. We have many different Ministries to our Community, from Our Refuge Student Ministry and Dynamite Kids Ministry, to our Music Ministry with Choir & Praise Team of over 35 members. We also have ministry to our Seniors (Young at Heart), a Benevolence Minstry (Project 13:16), Restoration Ministry (Crosslink), and much more. God has given our Church a Five-fold missional mandate, to Evangelize, Disciple, Preach, Teach, & send forth Missionaries, and our desire is to fulfill this mandate to the best of our ability under the direction and guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Vision of the Church:

To raise up a body of Multi-Cultural, Multi-Generational Jesus followers, disciples, who are unashamed of the Gospel, unshaken in their faith. Who demonstrate daily, the love of Jesus to everyone, no matter their age, race, background, or status. Whose purpose is to share the love of Christ in a dark world, to have a substantial impact for the Kingdom of God in our Community, State, and Nation, and to carry the Gospel to the ends of the Earth. New Vision is a body of believers whose goals and desires are Christ-centered, and whose doors are open to the rejected, unloved, unwanted, and broken, and is a place of Refuge and Hope for the Lost, striving to make this a place you can call Home!

We Believe:

  • In the verbal inspiration of the Bible.

  • In one God eternally existing in three persons; namely, the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

  • That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Ghost, and born of the Virgin Mary. That Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead. That He ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor.

  • That all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for forgiveness of sins.

  • That justification, regeneration, and the new birth are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.

  • In sanctification subsequent to the new birth, through faith in the blood of Christ; through the Word, and by the Holy Ghost.

  • Holiness to be God's standard of living for His people.

  • In the baptism with the Holy Ghost subsequent to a clean heart.

  • In speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance and that it is the initial evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

  • In water baptism by immersion, and all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

  • Divine healing is provided for all in the atonement.

  • In the Lord's Supper and washing of the saints' feet.

  • In the premillennial second coming of Jesus. First, to resurrect the righteous dead and to catch away the living saints to Him in the air. Second, to reign on the earth a thousand years.

  • In the bodily resurrection; eternal life for the righteous, and eternal punishment for the wicked.
